Reflective Target

A Reflective Target is a specially designed marker that reflects light or laser beams back to a measuring instrument. It is commonly used in surveying, geotechnical monitoring, structural health monitoring, and robotic/laser tracking systems to provide a precise reference point for distance or position measurements.

How it works :

A reflective target is made of high-reflectivity material, often with prismatic or retroreflective surfaces (like those found in road signs or tape).
When a laser or optical instrument (such as a total station, laser scanner, or photogrammetry camera) is aimed at the target, the target reflects the signal back to the instrument.
The instrument uses the reflected signal to measure distance, angle, or position very accurately.
Targets are often shaped as circles, crosses, checkerboards, or stickers, and may include a center point to serve as a precise aiming reference.
